ITINERARY

Day 1 – Saturday

Today, you will make your way to the meeting point in Fort William (exact details to be sent upon payment of deposit). This day will allow you to arrive on an open timetable, prepare your bike and relax, and meet up with the Tri-Nations crew and other participants before the start of the event on Sunday.

A relaxing evening meal and equipment preparation followed by an early night.

Day 2 – Sunday

A very early start is called for to ensure sufficient sunlight to complete what is undoubtedly the toughest day of the event.  Breakfast will be served, followed by a guided walk up Ben Nevis. This climb is the longest and highest, on the route and is scheduled for 5 hours in total.

Changing into cycle gear allows for transfer to the cycle phase of the day – a 75 mile cycle through some of the most spectacular scenery that Scotland has to offer.

Breakfast and evening meal provided.

Day 3 - Monday

Monday is a full day in the saddle with approximately 95 miles of road mileage. This is another day of glorious scenery as we head towards the southern region of Scotland.

Breakfast and evening meal provided.

Day 4 –Tuesday

Today we make our first border crossing and tick off the completion of our first ‘nation’. Another full day of cycling (approximately 75 miles of uphill and down dale) make the distance covered today the longest on the event. A mix of rural roads and more urban cycling today as we make our way through the city of Carlisle.

Breakfast and evening meal provided.

Day 5 – Wednesday

Another early start this morning to make our ascent of Scafell Pike. Whilst this is the highest peak in England it is the smallest of the three peaks we will be ascending. Rocky scrambles and less defined footpaths ensure that what the Pike lacks in stature it more than makes up for in technicality.

Breakfast will be taken before the ascent and on return to base, lunches will be provided for the cycle section. Covering a distance of 54 miles today may not sound too bad but the terrain will certainly test those legs and lungs!

All meals provided.

Day 6 – Thursday

Our final full day on the road! Today’s route takes us on the longest road section of the event at roughly 100 miles. We travel through the Lancashire towns of Lancaster, Leyland and Wigan making our final border crossing into Wales to the North West of Chester and onto our penultimate overnight stop in Denbigh.

Today is undoubtedly the most urban section of the event and it would certainly pay to travel in groups to assist with navigation and safety.

Breakfast end evening meal provided.

Day 7 – Friday

Our final day! A mixed up day today as we start the day with the cycle element, covering a relatively short distance of under 40 miles! Once at the meeting point a change of clothing will be required and the chance to rest a while. Once all participants have arrived and changed we will make our final ascent – the 3560ft climb to the roof of Wales. Following our descent back to the accommodation, a final dinner will be taken in a private function room. We might even buy you a drink to celebrate!

Day 8 –Saturday

After breakfast it is time to head for home. Tri Nations are offering a transfer service back to Crewe railway station or you are free to make your own way home.
